IIT JEE mains: All subjects chapter-wise weightage

The National Testing Agency( NTA) organizes the Joint entrance exam(JEE). With the JEE score, Students can able to join one of the top engineering colleges in India i.e. Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), National Institute of Technology(NIT).  Every year, thousands of aspirants appear for the exam but only a few are able to crack it with high scores and get into desired colleges. In JEE mains,  the level of difficulty of questions is high and competition is too high. So, every aspirant prepares for the exam with many strategies and tips. Since the syllabus is vast and time is limited, it would be helpful for the students to invest their time for productive utilization.  Without a doubt, students must cover every chapter in every subject during their preparation. However, according to chapter-wise weightage, students must stress those topics a little as their importance is high compared to the other topics.

JEE has three subjects in the question paper i.e Physics, Chemistry, Maths, etc. Each subject carries 100 marks. Two sections will be given in each subject. So, to gain a high score, students must pay seriousness to every subject. This article tells you the chapter-wise weightage in every subject in the JEE exam.

Chapter-wise weightage for chemistry:

Chemistry is one of the easiest subjects to attempt in the JEE mains exam. Since the questions are more theoretical-oriented rather than problem-solving, it is very quick to answer during the exam. This subject can bring the students high scores as well as also saves a lot of time. Chemistry IIT JEE syllabus is divided into three categories i.e. Organic chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, Physical chemistry. In the below table, Students can refer to the chapter-wise weightage for Chemistry

Chapter-wise weightage for maths:

In the JEE mains question paper, the chemistry score is a game-changer subject. However, maths is the subject that decides the certainty of them entering the top colleges like IIT, NIT as not everyone can do it accurately, not everyone can do it quickly. The chapter-wise weightage for the topics in maths is given below,

So, students can refer to this table to know the chapter-wise important questions and prepare accordingly for the exam.Preparation tips:

  • Put emphasis on important questions: While preparing for the main exam, students can go through each chapter according to their importance and weightage and can also refer to each chapter-wise important question for jee main
  • Understand the basics of these chapter-wise concepts from NCERT textbooks: To understand the topics from their core, NCERT’s are the best books. NCERT textbook reading is very quick and easiest to understand topics from the very fundamental section. After completion of reading the concepts in NCERT textbooks, students can refer to all the standard books to understand each topic in detail.
  • Mock tests: Mock tests assess your performance from time to time. The low scores in mock tests can be demoralizing for the students. They act as dampers for your confidence. If you got low marks in mock tests, then do not disappoint and demotivate yourself. Learn the topics more rigorously next time to make sure to do well in mock tests. Despite how much you learn the particular topic, you are getting low scores then there is something that you are not doing right and you must look into that.
  • Previous year question paper: With the previous years’ question papers, students can always analyze the type of questions and difficulty level of the questions in each topic in each subject that is being asked in the exam.  Also, if you are lucky enough then, you can come across those questions in your JEE main exam.

Conclusion: High weightage questions unknowingly point to the importance of that topic during your preparation. Knowing the chapter-wise weightage can aid students during your preparation especially for those who are dilly-dallying on how to kick start the preparation.
